You may have heard of the Reportable Conduct Scheme — but you might not know that the independent agency overseeing it, the Office of the Independent Regulator (OIR), is holding face-to-face sessions for foster, kinship, and respite carers in Hobart, Burnie and Launceston in mid-June for carers. You can register via this link: Out-of-home care in-person information sessions | Office of the Independent Regulator

I have met with the Regulator and her team to try and get these sessions State-wide to benefit the carer community. They should be very informative sessions, so I do hope as many carers as possible can get along to these sessions.

The OIR team wants these sessions to be genuinely helpful, so they’re keen to hear directly from carers as they prepare tailored resources explaining what the Scheme is, what it means for carers, and how it helps keep children and young people safe.

The Office of the Independent Regulator will be hosting a series of in-person information sessions for the Out of Home Care sector in June 2025.

How do I register?

What will the sessions cover?

  • The focus of these sessions will be the Reportable Conduct Scheme, and how it applies to the Out of Home Care sector.
  • We will use a discussion format to give participants the opportunity to ask questions.

What will I get out of attending?

  • This is an opportunity for those who work as Carers, or in roles which support the Out of Home Care sector, to gain an understanding of the Office of the Independent Regulator and the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
  • This includes what is and is not reportable conduct under the Reportable Conduct Scheme, what the role of the Office of the Independent Regulator is as an oversight body, and more.
